It’s that time of the year again when you feel like you are going to have a heat stroke. The pricking summer heat is becoming unbearable, with the init factor reached 38.5 Degrees Celsius in Manila. Other parts of the country, on the other hand, experience a 41 degrees Celsius temperature. Gosh! It is just so freaking hot. Turning the aircon on is so tempting. Peanut Butter and Banana Toast
Peanut butter and banana toast is my new found love. I spread the peanut butter on toasted bread and top it with sliced banana. Other times, I would prepare a sandwich first before toasting it. The crunch of the bread toast plus the sweetness of the banana and nutty flavor of the peanut butter is delicious and comforting. That’s Lily’s Cruncy Peanut Butter in the picture. It is only P107, which is like 20% less the price of well-known brands. I did not just wake up and realize I wanted to eat bananas and peanut butter. There is a science to this diet. These past several weeks had been pretty intense.…

Marks & Spencer Granola Squares
The granola squares by Marks & Spencer is a certified hit! It is love at first bite. Now, I am a self-confessed granola squares addict. I just love it so much. Every bite is heaven. And because it is granola, I feel less guilty. (Or should I be guilty?) Sometimes, when it is really that good, it no longer matters how much calories it really has. Well, that’s for me, at least. But for health conscious people out there who are very careful in their calorie-intake, here’s the nutritional fact from Fatsecret.com: The granola square is a combo of rolled oats, nuts, seeds, and raisins. It is gooey and sweet.…

Caffé Bene’s Chicken Mushroom Pesto Sandwich
A delicious sandwich must be made of fresh and tasty ingredients. The bread is crisp, chewy and not dry. And in between are slices of meat, cheese and veggies with flavorful spread. The chicken mushroom pesto sandwich by Caffe Bene at SM Clark, Angeles City is my kind of sandwich. It is delicious yet it only consist of few ingredients, hence very easy to re-create at home. The ciabatta bread is smeared with basil pesto, sandwiching slices of chicken and mushroom. If I am to make this at home, I would love more chicken in it. Toll House, Angeles City
You are never a certified Angeleño if you don’t know Toll House. Toll House predates many modern restaurants in Angeles City that most millenial Angeleños know. Since I came to Angeles City way back 1997, it has been serving hungry students mostly from HAU which is within the vicinity and a famish crowd from different walks of life. Toll House is a place that serves you comfort food and familiar dishes. And like Angeles City itself, it feels like home. We may go to different places but it seems to be calling us back. The restaurant is always busy. Some are just buying cakes and meals to go, but a…

Buko Cream Pie and Life’s Drama
I’ve been out of the blogosphere for apparently too long that it became challenging for me on how to start this post. I would not go through the details on why it took me months before I could write. But, let me just say that I had to deal with life’s drama. One thing leads to another–fate seems to bring me back to the home I abandoned a long time ago. As of this writing, I am in Laguindingan This place is quite unknown to people living in Manila not until the Cagayan de Oro Airport was moved into the municipality. And many people could not figure out where in…
